Hitting a Ghost on Hwy 1942Rate this encounter: Sean - Crosby, Texas - June 21, 2009I was driving home from bowling with some friends down a long stretch of road (Highway 1942) at about 2:30 in the morning. My phone rang, I looked to see who was calling me so early, and when I looked back up there was someone standing right in the middle of my lane. My only reaction was to slam on my brakes, but I was doing about 75 mph and I inevitably "hit" this person. I stopped and sat in my car too shocked to even think straight. When I finally pulled myself to together all I could think was, "Oh my God, I just killed someone." I staggered out of my car and walked back to where I had thought this person was. There was nothing but pavement. No body. No blood. Nothing. I ran to the front of my car and looked for damage... nothing. I told myself, "I know there was someone in the road" I sat back in my car and took a moment to collect my thoughts. I was dialing my parent's number when I noticed something in my rear view mirror. I looked and saw a figure walk across the road, into a field, and disappear into the darkness. Not thinking, I ran toward where I saw this entity disappear. I yelled if anyone was there, but the only answer I got back was the chirping of crickets. I went home and tried to research any deaths along this road, but have turned up nothing. If there is one thing that I do know, it's that I never take my focus off the road because the next time it might actually be someone and not anything paranormal.
