April 1, 2013 Strange Kids in the NeighborhoodAnonymous -- El Paso, Texas -- 1988Rate this encounter: This isn't really a typical ghost story, and I don't expect anyone to understand it the way I experienced it. But, at the very least, something very odd occurred. I was 17 years old and my mom, dad, and I were moving across town. We had the U-Haul backed up to the garage and me and my dad were talking on the ramp. Two or three kids came up and asked if we were moving in and I said yes. They asked my dad if I could hang out with them for a while. He said yes so I started walking around the neighborhood with them. Only one of them talked at all, which was a little weird. He asked if I wanted to check out a bomb shelter which was in the backyard of an abandoned house. It was a place where they partied, he told me. When we got to the house, there wasn't any sort of fence or anything. Maybe five more kids were waiting by the shelter's open hatch. I started to go down the cement stairs. It didn't really strike me as a bomb shelter. The sides went straight down and had graffiti all over them. The stairs ended at a wall and you had make a sharp left. When I made that turn, I stopped. There was about a four inch cement platform with a cement table on it. No place for chairs. In the far left corner was a doorway but no door. I, of course, got the creeps and starting backing up. As I went back up the stairs, several more paeople had gathered, but no one tried to stop me. They just stared at me. When I got to the top, the kid that had done all the talking said he/she would walk me home. We shared a cigarette. I got home and forgot the incident for five years. I didn't remember it until I was having a paranormal discussion with someone over the phone and it popped in my head. The weirdest thing I can remember is that I never saw any of those kids again. I can't tell you if if they were male or female or what they looked like. Whatever happened that day, I feel like I had a narrow escape and was definitely protected.
