Amber - Rouses Point, New York - February 2009 to Present
I have something in my house. I don't know if it's a ghost, I don't believe
it's human. It's been scrambling around in my cupboards for a while now, but
I don't think it's a rat or squirrel, because there are no other signs
(droppings, stored food, etc.). Also, I live in an apartment complex, so
others would have the same problem as me if it were animals and the landlord
would have done something about it. I believe it might be fae, because when
I came inside one day from going to the city with my fiancé, a pinecone fell
out of nowhere when I turned around. It was just a little over a month ago,
so it was early March or late February... and I went nowhere near any
wooded area, much less a non-snow-covered wooded area. There is no way a
pinecone could have gotten anywhere near me. But it fell out of thin air
when I turned toward the closet, taking off my jacket and getting ready to
hang it up.
I thanked the spirit, but told it I wanted my ring back instead. Once in a
while things are moved around or missing, especially if it's something I've
been working on (it probably only wants attention and thinking it'll get
more attention if there's nothing else for me to do). Also, sometimes
there'll be signs of people having done things (eating food because of
crumbs, going through clothes because of difference in folding style, etc.)
when I know I'm the only one here. I don't think it's harmful so much as
mischievous. I can normally sense spirits, but this one for some reason
doesn't want to be sensed. I bet it's some sort of troll. Not all trolls are
bad, but they generally hate being discovered. I believe this counts as a
ghostly encounter, because it would seem like a ghost if I didn't know about
fae. They generally like giving gifts like pinecones randomly, and exploring
human-made things (clothing, silverware, pictures, etc.) and they have few
boundaries.
