Date of Encounter: July 2002

A few years ago, I’m not exactly sure when, I was staying at my cousins’ house for the night. I quickly fell asleep on the living room couch while watching them play video games. In the middle of the night I suddenly woke up. I looked around in the darkness and was surprised to see that everyone was gone.

My aunt and uncle have three kids. Two of them are much older than me and one is my age. The older ones always used to tell stories about a ghost they always saw that appeared to be a small child. The oldest one claims that he always used to see a child out of the corner of his eye, but it always disappeared when he turned to look. He stopped seeing it as he got older. The second oldest claims that every night when he is trying to fall asleep that he hears the front door downstairs slam very hard. I wasn’t sure whether to believe them at first, but the second oldest proved it to me when he asked his mom, who sleeps in the room across from him, if she ever remembered hearing the front door slam in the middle of the night. To my surprise, she said that it did on a constant basis. His mom isn’t a person who would joke around, especially with something like that.

I got up and did my best to walk through the living room with my foot asleep. I entered the kitchen and began to walk up the stairs. Half way up I stopped dead without moving a hair when I heard the faucet in the kitchen turn on and the water splash into the sink. I refused to go back and turn it off and hurried upstairs to bed. About five minutes later it went off and I fell asleep once again.
