Ghostvillage.com review

Written during 1911, this in-depth study of Fairy faith by scholar W. Y. Evans-Wentz (1878 – 1965) remains a landmark book in the history of such studies. With a new introduction by metaphysical teacher and tarot reader Carl McColman, the importance of the book in contemporary cultural studies in firmly presented. McColman is the author of several books including When Someone You Love is Wiccan. A note of interest: In W. Y. Evans-Wentz’s dedication, he dedicated the book to William Butler Yeats.

What is important about this book is the honest and accurate documentation of traditional Celtic spirituality. This scholarly and highly readable book brings together medieval myths, traditional fairy beliefs, and ancient Paganism.

The book contains four sections and twelve chapters. Among the fascinating chapters are found “The Celtic Otherworld,” “The Celtic Doctrine of Re-Birth,” “The Testimony of Archaeology,” “The Testimony of Paganism,” and “The Testimony of Christianity.”

If you have never read this startling book, you are in for a definite treat! It is a book filled with rich treats of knowledge. For those interested in ghosts, references are given. The index is complete, and arranged in a helpful manner.

Highly recommended. A classic book which has stood the test of time since its publication in 1911 and continues to be read for its accurate research.
