This nonfiction book is an intriguing and enjoyable collection of shamanic knowledge and practices. An in-depth analysis of the Q’ero Indians of Peru, known as the keepers of the ancient knowledge, the book examines the Inca spiritual tradition as purely preserved by the Q’ero.

Several chapters detail the work of the mesa, which is the Andean form of a spiritual medicine bundle and its applications as a conduit for the healing energies of nature. The book introduction will open the reader to new approaches concerning how the world is filled with living energy and in chapter one, “In the Land of the Inkas: An Overview of Andean Mysticism,” the story of unfolds in a memorable manner which carries through to the conclusion of the book. Concise, crisp writing propels the reader along!

An important aspect of this book is its straight-ahead honest approach. Information is examined, information is analyzed. Rituals, the Three Worlds, Kawsay and K’ara, healing, and Andean Prophecy are but a few of the major topics covered in this remarkable book. The author also wrote Ayahuasca: The Visionary and Healing Powers of the Vine of the Soul, and numerous articles. Wilcox lives in North Carolina.

This is an important book which deals with a forgotten people whose mysticism is now being rediscovered and investigated. Their beliefs and religion are fully examined, and shared with the reader.

Great reading, educational, and worthy of being in your home library. Excellent.
