Date of Encounter: 1979

In 1979 I was in the U.S. Army, stationed in Giessen as a veterinary technician for the medical service. We had a vet clinic in an old, WW II-era, three-story, barracks-type building on the U.S. Army post in Giessen. Our veterinary clinic was at one end of the building, on the first floor with four rooms off a long, central hallway.

I was sitting behind my desk in the office area and happened to glance up and to my left toward the doorway to the first room on the right. Much to my amazement, a man in a long, white lab coat with horn rimmed glasses was standing there looking back at me. I wouldn't say he was solid like a living human, but there was enough to see his whole body from head to toe. He stood looking at me for at least 30 seconds, turned to his left, and went through the wall next to the doorway. Apparently in his lifetime it had been in that spot. I have no idea what time period he was from. I would suspect the WW II era. All I can tell you is that I didn't get "shivers," and I was not alarmed or scared.

I "see" people all of the time out of the corner of my eye just strolling through some of the places I have lived. I have no doubt the folks on the other side have not really gone anywhere; they are with us.
