Dr. Grof’s well-written book is certainly going to stir up controversy. The blunt honesty of the book will stir the minds of its readers. Feelings of oneness with other people, nature, the universe, and encounters is the strength of this well-researched nonfiction work.
Dr. Grof gives an amazing account of over fifty years of inquiry into areas that classical psychology has not dared to go. As a psychiatrist who researches non-ordinary states of consciousness, he also is one of the founders of transpersonal psychology.
Many important topics are covered. Of special interest are his explorations of such topics as astral projection, synchronicity, past life recall, and the survival of consciousness after death. The material shared with the readers will shake their view of reality to its very roots!
Here are some of the fascinating chapters from the book: “Blessing of the Gods: Don Jose Matsuwa and the Huichol Rain Ceremony,” “Sri Yantra in the Oregon Desert: UFO Visit or a Spectacular Hoax?,” “A Lesson in Forgiveness: Peyote Ceremony with Potawatomi Indians,” “Have We Lived Before? Reincarnation and the Akashic Record,” “When Spiritual Experiences Can Be Dangerous: Revisiting the Salem Witch-Hunt,” “The Taboo Against Knowing That We are Clairvoyant: Sessions with Ann Armstrong,” “Channeling the Avatar: My Mother, Sai Baba, and Holotropic Projection,” “UFOs in the Amazon: Alien Encounter of the Third Kind,” among many others.
Of special interest is “The Karmic Triangle: Time Travel to Ancient Egypt.” Each reading is an unusual and thought-provoking experience.
Highly recommended.
