Deena West Budd has written a well-researched and enjoyable book about the subject of cryptozoology. It is an adventure tour through the bizarre! Cryptozoology is the study of creatures and beings not accepted or recognized by traditional zoology. These are the things that standard zoology ignores. What adds to the legitimacy of these findings of unknown creatures is the many documented eyewitness accounts from reliable sources. Included with this fine book are illustrations and a detailed list of helpful resources for the reader to utilize.
It is not possible to list all the creatures and beings covered in this book, but here is a sampling of what the reader will discover. Rods (Skyfish), Ahool and other giant bats, Gray Man of Ben MacDhui, the flying men of Falls City, Nebraska, Jake and other alligator men, contemporary werewolves, goatmen, moas, Shadow People, Kappa, Encantados, clurichauns, dragons, lizard men, Lobo the wolf girl of Texas, Dover demon, New Jersey Devil, chupacabra, among many others.
One interesting account is of the Missouri monster called the MoMo. This should be reason enough to further investigate the unusual creatures lurking in the state of Missouri. Every account in this lively nonfiction book gives the reader an in-depth look at some things modern science does not want to investigate.
