The Bright Light and Strange Noise

This happened to me when I was in high school during summer vacation. I was having trouble sleeping one night, I don’t recall the exact date, but it was around 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM, when a very bright light came on outside my bedroom window, scaring the heck out of me. I also heard this noise at the same time the light came on. This light was so bright, I couldn’t tell what the light (and noise) source was, or how many feet off the ground, or feet away from my home it was either. I knew it wasn’t someone driving down the road because, if it were, I would have heard the engine running and vehicle headlights aren’t bright like the light I saw. I don’t think it was ball lightning because I don’t recall the area having thunderstorms that night. I also ruled out the possibility of someone pulling a prank on my family because nobody that I know of ever admitted to pulling a prank that night. I probably would have heard them outside my window if they tried it, and I think they would have needed a light source like those bright lights that are used in making a television show or movie.
