This big, thick book of magick, in hardcover and issued without dustjacket, is a special treat for those interested in magick, the paranormal, astrology, and all things supernatural. For the first time in over 300 years, the complete book is published again. This is the text which influenced Goethe and his fictional Faust, and the book reveals long-hidden secrets utilized by Rosicrucianism, and the Golden Dawn among other secret societies.
Weiser Books deserves much praise for making the book available in English. It is divided into three parts. Each part is an in-depth look at what the author refers to as three elements: Salt, Sulfur, and Mercury.
Salt is about creation. It details information about the origins of life. Sulfur discusses the universe. Mercury is a grouping of prophecy covering what is to come, including the Apocalypse.
This book is a true and accurate mystery school manual. It is designed as a guide for unlocking occult secrets, and using those secrets. This book also covers alchemy.
This is highly recommended reading, and it should reach a wide reading audience. If you want to investigate what this magickal book holds, you will not be disappointed. It is this reviewer’s opinion that this book will answer a lot of questions, and answer them in a straight-forward manner readily accessible to the reader.
A fine reference work, the translation by McVeigh and editing by DuQuette are outstanding examples of thoughtful scholarship. The book is an excellent choice for placement in your local public library and your personal home bookcase!
