What a wonderful book for Halloween, and a fine gift to give! A Witch’s Halloween by Gerina Dunwich is her finest book to date, filled with helpful insights and valuable information. There is new information that will surprise the readers with its direct application and ease of use. This book is a fine reference on Halloween and should find a wide reading audience!

Following an enjoyable preface and beautiful poem called “Shadowfest,” the book is arranged into eleven chapters and closes with the magickal poem, “Season of the Crone.” That Gerina Dunwich is gifted, insightful poet is very evident in these two poems. The appendix contains the concise, well-written essay, “Conducting a Seance” by Barbara Shelley James.

The chapters include “The Hallowed Beginnings,” “Ritual and Revelry,” “Halloween: A Pagan Perpective,” “The Symbols of Halloween,” “Halloween Legend, Lore, and Trivia,” “Halloween Herb Lore,” “Superstitions and Omens,” “Divinations and Incantations,” “The Witches’ Sabbat,” “Wizardy and Enchantments,” and “Traditional Halloween Cookery.” Each chapter is well-written and reinforces the respect of readers and writers alike who appreciate Dunwich’s role as a leading occult historian and Witch.

What makes Gerina Dunwich unique among contemporary writers is her untarnished ability to hone in on the truth of a topic and reveal that truth directly to her readers without pretense. An honest writer, she shows it in all of her writings.
