Sandra Ingerman is a well-respected writer in the field of shamanic studies. She is also a skilled teacher and instructs on the subject of shamanic journeying. As a personal resource and guidebook, this book is invaluable with its insights and approaches.

Shamanic journeying is the art of inner traveling to the invisible worlds which are located beyond ordinary reality. It is, inner travel, so-to-speak. She applies over twenty years of teaching experience with the reader in a concise, clear manner. There is a 60-minute CD with the book which covers the drumming tracks for undertaking shamanic journeys. The CD represents some of the finest drumming music for this type of endeavor found anywhere. These CD sessions cover a 12-minute drumming track with the use of rattles and whistles, a 20-minute double-drumming track, and a 30-minute single-drumming track.

The introduction to the book is followed by nine chapters. Among the exciting material detailed and explained is an explanation of shamanism, the three worlds, power animals and teachers, and undertaking your first shamanic journey. Each chapter is clear and enjoyable reading.

If you are new to the topic of shamanism and what it has to offer the individual, this book will be an educational and enjoyable learning experience for you. Well-written, this is a highly recommended book about shamanism. The chapter on power animals and teachers is fascinating, as are all the chapters.
