I moved into a Victorian house a couple of years ago with my family. I already thought there was something up with the house. It's got this eerie feeling to it, but my parents said it was my imagination, so I kind of left it at that.

But so many things have happened. I saw a woman in black standing on the stairs while I was coming out of the bathroom. It was broad daylight so I didn't think it was a trick of the light. I have heard footsteps walking down the hall in the middle of the night, and the hall has a wooden floor. I peered around the door, thinking it might be my parents and saw this figure in black ascending the stairs. I blinked, and it vanished.

My parents went on holiday recently so I was to stay up in the attic room while my Gran kept my own room. I sat at the desk beside the slanting roof and felt footsteps pounding past me on the floor, but there was nobody there. I heard people running up and down the stairs. Getting agitated, I would throw the door open, thinking it to be my brother or sister, to find nobody there. I stood at the foot of the stairs once, alone in the house, and saw feet running up the stairs into the darkness.

I was downstairs with my brother, alone in the house at about four in the afternoon a few weeks ago, and while walking past the dining room, someone, well, it looked like a figure made entirely of some sort of white energy, walked straight at me. We were so close we would have collided. I leapt out of the way, as you do, and gasped, but there was nothing there.

I moved out of my bedroom a few months ago now. I have fondly referred to my new "room mate" as Dennis, after watching the ghost on Angel. Dennis I have never seen, or I don't think I have. He has been known to play around with the lamp on the ceiling, so it would be half hanging off, and he rips my posters off the walls. I had never really believed that he existed, just a little ghost story I like to tell my friend. But I can feel his presence, standing by my bedroom door, the floorboards creaking. Though he's not always there. A few weeks ago, in the middle of the night, I got up to go to the toilet, and came back to bed. As I was laying there, I heard a voice crying "ahhhhhh." I looked up (stupidly) but, as usual, there was nothing there. Thinking it was just my imagination I lay back down in bed, when suddenly, there was a crash, and my door flew open, to reveal nobody outside. It was as though a fist had connected with my door.

I don't believe there is any harm in Dennis, or the ghosts in my house though, and I don't think all ghosts are evil.
