Joseph Citro’s knack for storytelling and dedication to thorough and honest research make this book a classic, and an absolute must-have for amateur ghost-hunters. Citro takes the reader on a tour through New England’s dark history, and is able to lend credence to the most bizarre stories. He tells us the tale of one Phelps family, in mid 19th century Stratford, Connecticut, who was plagued by spirits posing dummies throughout the house in demonic positions. He also describes in detail the sinister history of Vermont’s Glastenbury Mountain, located in what he calls the “Bennington Triangle”, where as many as ten people since 1945 have disappeared without a trace.
Ghosts, unexplained phenomena, and legends bigger than life itself make for one fascinating book. But beware – these are not bedtime stories!
