Dear Ghostvillagers,

As a child, I considered my neighbors to be the people who lived within sight of my house. As I became a teenager, I stretched the definition of "neighbor" to just about anyone who lived in the same town I did. I had an understood code instilled in me on how we treat our neighbors -- we help each other. If the old couple down the street had some trees blow down in their yard, we went over and the able-bodied people pitched in and cleaned up. We got a thank-you, maybe a cold glass of lemonade, and a better neighborhood for it. 

I'm older now, and my concept of "neighbor" has stretched even further. Since starting Ghostvillage almost six years ago, I've acquired a lot of new neighbors. Some I consider friends, some I hardly know at all, but they're all my neighbors. Some neighbors live in the next town over from me, some live in Europe, some in India, others in Australia, and more than a couple live on the Gulf Coast of the United States. Like all of you, I watched the news footage of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. My heart broke along with the rest of the world at the sight of the great city of New Orleans suffocating beneath rubble and polluted flood waters, and at the carnage left in small towns and in other cities throughout the Gulf.

Now that Katrina has passed, our neighbors on the Gulf Coast need our help with the cleanup and with putting their lives back together.

Last week I sent an email out to some friends and colleagues... make that neighbors... in the paranormal community and asked that they donate a little of what they do, figuring it would add up to a lot... and boy, did it ever. We have over 80 products and or services donated for a huge paranormal charity auction that is happening on eBay right now. We want to show the world that the paranormal community isn't a bunch of weirdoes -- we're people who care about people. There is more than $2000 worth of autographed books, psychic readings, DVDs, videos, advertising space, t-shirts, magazine subscriptions, and more up for bid right now. 100% of the proceeds go to benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief effort. What is your name?
Tracey Donnelly

How old are you?
A very immature 45-year-old.

Where do you live?
Gosford – known as the New South Wales central coast and one hour north of Sydney, Australia.

What do you do for a living?
I'm a nurse – newly graduated.

How did you come up with your screen name?
"Feu sur la neige" is French for "fire on the snow." I like it because it's a paradox and it is so familiar to me that if someone at work were to call me "feu" I probably wouldn’t blink an eye. I took French lessons for a while. It's nice to pronounce (fur sir la nairje). It’s one energy affecting another -- a warm heart melting a cold one.

What got you interested in the supernatural?
My interest in the paranormal began when I was 13 years old, when I experienced a few common psychic happenings within myself in the form of a precognitive dream, acute intuition, ESP, etc. I always believed in ghosts, but I never had proof. I've only started investigating seriously in the last 18 months, and have experienced more than I ever imagined. I just can't believe it has taken me half my lifetime to experience this.

Have you ever seen a ghost?
I have never seen a ghost with these eyes of mine, but I sure as hell have felt them touch me, blow breath on my face, move things, chill me, heard them walk right up to me, and even felt the emotions of a spirit mother when her children died. Spirits let me see them in my photography. I have communicated with spirits in the company of Paranormal Australia Team, asking the spirit to tap yes or no. This is the most exciting thing that has happened to me. But what does scare me the most is when footsteps walk toward me and stop. I know spirit is right in front of me, but I can’t see them.

What's the one food you couldn't live without?
The food I can't live without is vegemite, naturally. I was raised on this stuff like all Aussie kids, and so are my kids. Nothin' like havin' "vegy" on toast n' gettin' it all over ya face!
