Dear Ghostvillagers,

This past month was our busiest ever here at Ghostvillage.com -- more than 8 million hits in October alone. That means there are a lot of new faces seeing this newsletter for the first time. Welcome to the supernatural discussion to all of you who recently signed up online or at some of the many lectures I've given over the last several weeks. During my recent travels, I've had the pleasure to meet so many people who are interested in ghosts and the supernatural and who are doing some great work to further the research and discussion of this important subject. This past weekend I was in Astoria, Oregon as a guest of the A.G.H.O.S.T. organization. Thank you to Ross Allison and the rest of his group for their hospitality and for their great insight. This coming weekend I'll be speaking at Ghostfest on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. I know several Ghostvillagers have already emailed me to say they plan on attending -- I look forward to seeing you all there and showing you the secret handshake (which looks remarkably like a regular handshake).

In the month ahead we'll be exploring Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC) here in the Village. The exact definition of ITC is a bit of a moving target, but basically the idea encompasses spirit communication via modern technology. There are many offshoots from this practice that you may be more familiar with -- certainly Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) can fall under this umbrella, as can certain aspects of spirit photography and videography. We live in a technological age with a myriad of devices that we use to communicate: telephones, televisions, computers, cell phones, pagers, fax machines, and radios just to name a few. If our personalities, memories, and intelligence can pass on after death, it would seem logical that we may use these old familiar devices to try and reach back to our living loved ones (hopefully there are no exorbitant roaming charges for that call). There are also researchers building electronic devices with the sole intent of communicating with spirits. The field of ITC is wide open.

Practitioners of ITC believe these devices can be used to bridge the gap, and that an open, two-way dialogue with spirits is possible. The practice takes focus, not just on the living side of the veil, but also on the spirit side -- a symphonic blend of science and spirituality. This month we'll explore the methods, the evidence being collected, and the history of ITC. To kick things off, I've included an excerpt from my book, Communicating With the Dead: Reach Beyond the Grave. You can click here to read part of my chapter on ITC.

Thank you all for another great Halloween/Samhain season. Please keep sharing your experiences, your evidence, and your opinions. Great things will come of it. Enjoy the rest of the newsletter below.

Supernaturally yours,

Jeff Belanger

Once we have our winner, we will announce them on our home page as soon as possible. Good luck! (Only Ghostvillagers who have not won a prize from us in the last year are eligible.)

Who's Who in the Town Square?
Get to know some of your fellow Ghostvillagers.

>>evad_83647<< - member since October 21, 2005

What is your name?
Dave Ryan

How old are you?
47

Where do you live?
Las Vegas, Nevada

What do you do for a living?
Jet engine mechanic, photographer, and author. I've just released my latest book, The Enlightenment. It is a novel about how man came to be on Earth (www.dandepublishing.com).

What got you interested in the supernatural?
This is a hard question. I guess I've always been interested since I was a child trying to explain the dreams I had. I have also had unexplainable experiences in my life, both with ghosts/spirits and UFOs. I found Ghostvillage while doing some research on another book I am writing. You guys sucked me in, and I am probably more interested in the paranormal now than I have ever been.

Do you think science will ever be able to prove or disprove the existence of ghosts?
I think as long as there are unexplained events which occur, people will try to figure out why. As you know I am very interested in the science end of things. If you compare us to the universe, our current knowledge level would fit on the head of a pin. We have a long way to go to understand how everything works and why. At this point I am inclined to say anything is possible.

I think to be able to prove or disprove the existence of ghosts is going to require a lot more research. You have people on both sides right now who swear they are correct. We need to get past that mindset and work together to find the answers. Ghostvillage has done an excellent job of bringing people to the table to discuss their experiences.

Yes, I believe science will prove or disprove the existence of ghosts, but not for a long, long time. Hopefully we will be around to see it.

What's in your CD player right now?
I don't usually listen to music while I'm working. If I had something in there other than what I was currently working on, it would probably be Larry the Cable Guy or some other comedian.
