Shhhh, listen... did you hear it? I mean, really, did you? In the realm of Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) you don’t always... at least not until the playback.
For many, EVP offers a sound-bite from the supernatural. Others have evolved the practice into a two-way conversation with the other side. EVP is being used by ghost hunters as potential evidence of a haunting, some are using the practice as part of grief counseling, and others take that idea a step further to the point of continuing their relationship with a departed loved one who has died. The equipment required is nothing more than an audio recorder – and not even an expensive one necessarily. People are getting results with the most inexpensive equipment. But are the results truly voices from beyond the grave or some recording anomaly that has yet to be explained? Though some voices are very clear, others require some imagination. Is our brain simply looking for speech patterns in random noise, just as we seek human features in seemingly random images?
This month we’re going to delve into EVP and explore the how and why of the phenomena. To get you started, be sure to listen to the Ghost Chronicles podcast on EVP featuring an interview with Tom and Lisa Butler of the AAEVP.
Over the next several weeks, you’ll notice some big changes at Ghostvillage.com. In fact, we've already updated our
community message boards and within the next day or two we'll be adding a blogging feature to our community so Ghostvillagers can have their own haunted blog and say what's on their minds! This month we're upgrading a lot of the technology behind the site, adding new sections and some other bells and whistles that will make your time in the Village even better. I’m hoping that by the time our next newsletter rolls around, we’ll have the upgrade completed. So stay tuned!
Enjoy the rest of the newsletter below.

|Who's Who in the Town Square?
>>Axman<< - member since December 19, 2004
What is your name?
Kenneth Grantham, although just Ken is what I prefer.
How old are you?
Where do you live?
Golden Valley, just outside of Kingman, Arizona.
What do you do for a living?
I am line cook at a local restaurant.
What first got you interested in the supernatural?
I have always been sensitive toward spirits, and it prompted me to pursue paranormal investigating way back in 1980 when I turned 16.
Does religion have a place in supernatural research?
I am a Baptist, but I don't feel that religion plays into the paranormal investigating. If a spirit is religious it may help in communicating with a spirit, but I don't feel that religion is directly related to the paranormal in general.
What's in your CD player right now?
I don't listen much to CDs. I generally keep the radio tuned to my favorite classic rock station. Sometimes I listen to country or oldies but mostly classic hard rock.
