Thomas Ashley-Farrand, whose given Sanskrit name is Namadeva, has practiced and written about the power and use of mantras since 1973. His guru is the late Sadguru Sant Keshavadas from Bangalore, India.
What makes Chakra Mantras practical is the simple fact it is based on time-tested approaches to numerous mantras which have direct bearing on the chakras. These chakras are essential for awakening energy on many levels. Those who are involved personally with chakra healing will find this book fascinating, and helpful.
As a Vedantist, I find the information both accurate and helpful. The section on cosmic concepts gives a detailed background, and introduces the reader to chakras. The section on Ganesha, Shakti, and Will further explores the essential logic involved, and the section on the Chakras gives detailed guidance.
Part IV, "Divine Beings and Divine Us," covers important facts related to spiritual concepts and includes a mantra summary. The appendix is a fine summary of the Chakra petals and qualities. The glossary is concise and useful, a nicely compiled collection of words and definitions helpful in the study of mantras.
For those interested in mantras and chakras, this is a well-researched and enjoyable book for reference. The author is to be congratulated on his scholarship and research. Another wonderful aspect about this book is the given use of the phrase/chant followed by a version presented as it sounds, for example: Here is a Mantra on becoming a servant of God: Om Sri Rama Jaya Rama, Jaya Jaya Rama (Om Shree Rah-mah Jah-yah Rah-mah, Jah-yah Jah-yah Rah-mah).
Occultists and researchers have long been fascinated by the power of the mantra and chakras. This is an ideal book for in-depth research and education on both subjects.
