My friend Joe and I were sleeping over at our friend Matt's house. We already figured that his house was haunted because we've had past experiences while sleeping over, things like: weird noises, footsteps, doors slamming shut when no one else is there, etc. But this by far was the most terrifying experience yet.

Matt's house was built in the late 1800s just after the Civil War had ended. The basement is the room with the most activity because that is where a woman killed her husband and proceeded to commit suicide (Matt and his family did not know this information when they moved into the house). One night we had a sleepover and we usually like to walk around the house and take pictures because we were fascinated with spirits and were very excited every time we found an orb or some form of a spirit. As we were walking into the basement, the light would not turn on even though all the other lights were able to be turned on around the house. So we figured the bulb was burnt out and got some flashlights. At the bottom of the stairs to the right there is a couch and an old TV in front of it that hasn't been working for years. After we took a couple pictures we sat down on the couch and reviewed them. All of a sudden the TV turned on for no reason! It scared all of us to death and my friend Joe let out a terrifying yell. Matt went up and turned it off having no idea how it happened to turn on. So we kind of laughed about it and went back to reviewing our pictures. About two minutes had passed and out of nowhere the lights turned on along with the TV again. This frightened us to death so we ran up the stairs but the door slammed shut even though we were the only ones in the house! Matt tried to open it but it was as if someone was holding it shut. We didn't know what to do and I thought I was going to faint because I was so frightened. Then Matt yelled, "Don't take your anger out on me!" and the door swung open and no one was behind it. We all ran out of the house and I've never stayed overnight there since.
